The ALANA Center caters to the student of color population at Vassar and is home to 21 student organizations that represent various cultural\/national\/ethnic groups. The Center is physically located behind the Powerhouse Theater (no.1 on campus map) and has a large community room, a conference room, a kitchen, a storage room, two study rooms, and administrative offices. The ALANA Center is primarily led by the Director with the support of the Program Manager and the Administrative Assistant. Supporting African American\/Black, Latino, Asian\/Asian-American, and Native American communities at Vassar, student interns work with the Director, Program Manager, Administrative Assistant, and ALANA identified student organizations to plan and develop the Center's programs, which will be of particular interest to students of color. Student program assistants also provide supervision of the ALANA Center during weekday evenings and weekend hours; ensure policies and procedures for scheduling and facility's use are followed; maintain a record of the Center's night activities, assist with Center activities and ensure that Center is properly cleaned after use. ALANA Program Assistants are expected to work collaboratively with other Student Growth and Engagement student interns (LGBTQ Center, International Student Services, Transitions and Women's Center) and others in fulfilling specific and broad campus community job assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We are seeking the following competencies:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>*Ability to understand the intersections of identity <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Willingness to work on programs to address issues of equity and inclusiveness across the campus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Creativity, dependability, ability to work as part of a team, and attendance to weekly staff meetings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Planning, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Engagement in team building, facility maintenance, supervisory skills, problem solving, cooperation, resourcefulness, program development and implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We look forward to receiving your application\/resume through JobX, once applications open in mid-July.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interested in working at the Jeh Vincent Johnson ALANA Cultural Center as an ALANA Program Assistant?
