Please keep in mind that application deadlines vary by field and by the type of degree you a pursuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Junior Year (Year Prior to Applying)&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Research programs and institutions. Talk to faculty, alums, and others who have done graduate work in your field of interest.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re interested in applying to medical or other health-related programs, <a href=\"http:\/\/vassar.joinhandshake.com\/stu\/appointments\/new\">schedule an appointment<\/a> with our office to discuss Fellowships and Pre-Health Advising.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rising Seniors (Summer Prior to Applying)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Obtain applications and catalogs for selected schools, or review literature at school and department websites.<\/li><li>Set up a timeline of crucial dates and tasks.<\/li><li>Review for and take standardized tests (Juniors should take the MCAT in April or August before Senior year).<\/li><li>Visit schools.<\/li><li>Write rough drafts of essays.<\/li><li>Register with application services for law school and medical school.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First Semester Senior Year (Fall of Application Year)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ask faculty for letters of recommendation and fill out a registration form in the Center for Career Education.<\/li><li>Take standardized tests if you have not yet done so (Seniors usually take the LSAT in June or October).<\/li><li>Apply for Vassar and other fellowships.<\/li><li>Attend the Graduate and Professional School Information Day in the fall.<\/li><li>Rewrite essays and complete applications.<\/li><li>Contact the registrar\u2019s office to have transcripts sent.<\/li><li>Set up interviews (if applicable).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second Semester Senior Year (Spring of Application Year)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check with schools to make sure application file is complete; send fall transcripts.<\/li><li>Visit programs that accept you.<\/li><li>Send deposit and registration material.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a timeline that may be helpful when planning your application to graduate school.
