Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>Career Development Grants are intended to help offset the costs of expenses related to career preparation, job and internship search, and graduate\/professional school applications for individual students. Examples of eligible expenses include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interview attire such as suits, dress shoes, ties, and professional bags<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual travel expenses related to interviews, career fairs, consortia recruiting events, and professional conferences not supported by academic departments or other funding sources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graduate\/professional school test registration fees and application fees (please note that you are expected to also apply for fee waiver\/reduction opportunities if available)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/gre\/score-users\/reducing-barriers\/fee-reductions.html\">GRE Fee Reduction Program<\/a>&nbsp;(general graduate programs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lsac.org\/lsat\/lsat-dates-deadlines-score-release-dates\/lsat-cas-fees-and-refunds\/fee-waivers-lsat-credential\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LSAC\/LSAT Fee Waiver Program<\/a>&nbsp;(law school)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/applying-medical-school\/applying-medical-school-process\/fee-assistance-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AAMC\/MCAT Fee Assistance Program<\/a>&nbsp;(medical school)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Career Development Grants&nbsp;may not&nbsp;be used for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Test prep courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outside educational programming and\/or coursework<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income while undertaking a low-pay or unpaid internship at any time of the year&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel or other expenses for internships during the academic year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All current students are eligible to apply for a Career Development Grant. While students may apply to the fund more than once, individual students are limited to $500 in total awards over their time at Vassar.<br>Important details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funds for this program are limited. Applications will be prioritized based on financial need and on the planning demonstrated in the application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants will be disseminated until funds are depleted for a given academic year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decisions will be made on a rolling basis, and applications will be reviewed weekly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students should allow up to 2 weeks for a decision to be reached, please plan accordingly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants are treated as reimbursements; monies are not provided in advance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receipts (paper or electronic) will be required in order to process reimbursements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As these funds could be 1099 reportable, we recommend that students consult with a tax advisor on how to treat and report this grant for tax purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Application Process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vassar.smapply.us\/prog\/career_development_grants_application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Career Development Grant online application form<\/a>\u00a0which includes an anticipated budget.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Center&nbsp;for Career Education will review applications and verify each applicant\u2019s need level with the Office of Student Financial Services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your application is approved, you will be contacted by email with information on the amount of your grant award. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once receipts are provided, a payment request will be issued. <em>Funds are transferred to students via direct deposit; you will be notified if you need to set this up.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact Aimee Cunningham (<a href=\"mailto:aicunningham@vassar.edu\">aicunningham@vassar.edu<\/a>), Associate Director of Fellowships, Funding, and Communications, with any questions about the application process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Career Development Grants are intended to help offset the costs of expenses related to career preparation, job and internship search, and graduate\/professional school applications for individual students.
