Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>Starting today, Vassar is greeting its digital visitors in a whole new way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our homepage,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vassar.edu\/\">www.vassar.edu<\/a>, has been completely revamped. \u201cWe\u2019re showing many more facets of the college, giving those who visit us online a real sense of what it\u2019s like to be here,\u201d said Daria Robbins, Director of Web Strategy and Development in the Office of Communications. \u201cWe\u2019ve created a holistic, visitor-focused approach to how we present Vassar to the world online.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users are taken to a screen that is adorned with multiple, rotating images depicting the beauty of the campus and the dynamic nature of campus life. And within a couple of clicks, they can move to pages that focus on every phase of the Vassar experience, from admissions to academics, athletics to campus events. \u201cYou can find every page we\u2019ve created without having to leave the homepage to look for it,\u201d Robbins said. \u201cAnd every page invites you to take some kind of action, such as applying for admission, making a donation to the college or viewing a soccer game.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amanita Duga-Carroll, Vice President of Communications, said the new homepage will not only be more useful to those who are already members of the Vassar community but to new visitors as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor many people\u2014prospective students and their parents, high school guidance counselors and others\u2014our homepage is their first contact with the College. Workday will replace the current Banner system for HR, as well as the use by some employees of paper forms to complete timesheets and request time off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vassar employees will use Workday for different tasks depending upon their different jobs. Employee training on Workday will therefore be in a small group of people who share a similar job role or who are members of the same union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training sessions will be held during business hours so employees will be able to use paid time to attend. Schedules will be posted in departments and offices, and in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/workdayinfo.vassar.edu\/schedule\/\">Training Schedule<\/a>&nbsp;section of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/workdayinfo.vassar.edu\/\">Workday project website<\/a>. Employees should use the website to sign up for training, or talk to their supervisor about which session to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Vassar\u2019s Workday project site you can find guide sheets to read and print out in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/workdayinfo.vassar.edu\/education-training\/\">Training Materials<\/a>&nbsp;section. Handouts will also be provided at training sessions. Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>A small group of Vassar employees has offered a generous giving challenge to help the college\u2019s annual Community Works fundraising campaign reach its $70,000 goal. The group will contribute a combined $7,500 to the campaign if $7,500 in other donations and pledges is received from Thursday, December 7, through Friday, December 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communityworks.vassar.edu\/\">Community Works<\/a>&nbsp;is Vassar\u2019s annual giving campaign for local non-profit organizations. Funded by donations from employees, trustees, and students, Community Works has provided over $1 million in grants to over 50 different&nbsp;groups&nbsp;since its inception in 2001.&nbsp;Recipients are selected each year by an employee committee based upon nominations from members of the college community. And 100% of the funds contributed go directly to the grant recipients, because the college pays for all of the campaign\u2019s administrative costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contributions and pledges to Community Works can be made at the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/communityworks.vassar.edu\/contributions\/\">campaign website,<\/a>&nbsp; where there is also information about the new group of ten local non-profits selected to receive grants in the coming year. One-time contributions can be made online with a credit or debit card, and pledges to give through payroll deduction can be set up there as well.
