Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>As of July, one of the core programs of the Office of Community-Engaged Learning is the <strong>Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC)<\/strong>, which aims to build school-based partnerships between Vassar College and the City of Poughkeepsie School District (PCSD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC)<\/strong> has been building reciprocal partnerships between Vassar College and the Poughkeepsie City School District since 2003. There are three main VEC programs that aim to expand educational opportunities for public school students in Kindergarten through 12th grade and strengthen connections between Vassar and its surrounding community. Programming supports students ages 5 to 18\u2014as well as parents, teachers, and other community members\u2014and also provides formative experiences that shape Vassar students\u2019 education and future career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VEC aims to partner alongside the district by sharing resources, fostering collaboration, and co-developing opportunities that affirm student brilliance and expand access to learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vassar.edu\/vassar-education-collaboration\/programs\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.vassar.edu\/vassar-education-collaboration\/programs\">Learn more about VEC programs. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide consistent mentoring, enrichment, and academic support opportunities for Poughkeepsie City School District students through after-school and in-school programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expand access to Vassar\u2019s campus resources by creating opportunities for students to visit campus, participate in extracurricular experiences, and build meaningful connections with Vassar students, staff, and faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support students' pathways to high school graduation and postsecondary success through intentional mentorship, college and career exploration, leadership development, and skill-building activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen partnerships with local schools, families, and community organizations through regular communication, collaborative planning, and commitment to student success. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage Vassar students in practicing community-engaged learning that applies academic knowledge in ways that are relational, reciprocal, and justice-centered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As of July, one of the core programs of the Office of Community-Engaged Learning is the Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC), which aims to build school-based partnerships between Vassar College and the City of Poughkeepsie School District (PCSD).
