No. The Vassar Mobile app does not collect or store any personal information or location data. If you choose to login to any of the tools provided via the Vassar Mobile app, you are logging into the same service you would on your desktop or mobile browser (http://one.vassar.edu). If you choose to enable location services on the map embedded in the app you're sharing your location with Google Maps the same as you would when using Google Maps on your mobile device. For information about how Google uses location data, read google's privacy terms.
What happens if I disable Location Services?
When you open Vassar Mobile for the first time, it will ask for permission to use Location Services. If you disable Location Services, the various maps throughout Vassar Mobile will not be able to find your current location to help you navigate. If you want to change your Location Services permission settings, you can do so at any time through your devices' privacy settings for Vassar Mobile.
Is Vassar Mobile a contact tracing app?
No. Vassar Mobile is not designed to do contact tracing and exposure notification for COVID-19.
Is Vassar using contact tracing technology?
Vassar College is working with SafePaths to deliver contact tracing technology to the community. The technology we plan to use will be opt-in, will collect location data on your device ONLY, and share that data, only if you chose to, with Health Service in the event you have tested positive for COVID-19. We expect this technology to be available for opt-in by mid-September when more information will be provided.
