Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>Dear All,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Libraries are providing the following end-of-semester notifications and recommendations to students so that they can complete their work successfully while away from campus beginning November 20. We hope these tips are helpful to you as well, whether it is in planning your end-of-semester course assignments, supporting students, or preparing yourself for research and reading over the winter months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/library.vassar.edu\/fall20\/offcampus\">library website&nbsp;for more recommendations and announcements<\/a>, but in summary:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are leaving campus:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check out the books that you will need for the remainder of the semester. For students: they will be due for return at the start of the spring semester.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Request any materials through Interlibrary Loan no later than November 10, to allow enough time for the items to arrive at Vassar and for you to pick them up. Please note that you will still be responsible to return any ILL materials on time. The Library may be able to assist with mailing returns. Forces video embeds contained in dropdowns to have a size --><style>.dropdownizer__dropdown iframe { width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important; }<\/style>\n<p>Dear Members of the Vassar Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am pleased to announce that Carlos Alamo-Pastrana, Associate Professor of Sociology and Latin American and Latino\/a Studies, has accepted an appointment to a new position as Associate Dean of the Faculty &amp; Academic Resources, effective July 2017 through June 2020. Carlos has been serving as Associate Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources since summer 2016. His new position will serve as a bridge between the DOSPAR and DOF offices, with approximately half-time duties in each office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carlos joined Vassar\u2019s faculty in 2007 as a Consortium for Faculty Diversity pre-doctoral fellow, entering a tenure-line position the following year. Carlos has provided outstanding campus leadership in his current associate dean role, including service on the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Self-Study Steering Committee, the Campus Master Planning Committee, the Sustainability Committee, and the Classroom Committee, which he chairs. Other contributions prior to 2016 included membership on the Committee on Inclusion and Excellence, membership on several multidisciplinary program steering committees, and service as a Sexual Assault Response Team advocate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carlos received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and his M.A. &amp; Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His scholarly work and teaching center on Caribbean studies, popular culture, race, Puerto Rican politics, and prison studies. His book Seams of Empire: Race and Radicalism in Puerto Rico and the United States was published in 2016 by the University Press of Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are thrilled to welcome Carlos to the Dean of the Faculty office. Other tips explain the remaining ways employees can use Banner Online through June 30, 2017:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WORKDAY<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log into Workday (<a href=\"https:\/\/workday.vassar.edu\/\">https:\/\/workday.vassar.edu<\/a>) from any computer or mobile device connected to the Internet, using such major browsers as Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Explorer.<\/li><li>Log in with your standard Vassar username and password. If you don\u2019t know them, the CIS Service Desk in the College Center will help you get set up (open weekdays 9:00am-4:30pm during the break and 9:00am-7:30pm in general).<\/li><li>For employees who don\u2019t use computers in their jobs, many computers are set up specifically for Workday in locations such as ACDC, The Retreat, and the offices for Facilities and Safety &amp; Security.<\/li><li>You can use the Workday app from your smartphone or tablet, for all of the system\u2019s functions.
