You may also contact us by email: <a href=\"mailto:fachouseoffice@vassar.edu\">fachouseoffice@vassar.edu<\/a>, campus mail box 714, or by telephone at <a href=\"tel:+18454377970\">(845) 437-7970<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I find out if I am eligible for Faculty Housing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The criteria for eligibility are noted in the <a href=\"\/dean-of-the-faculty\/resources\/forms\/\">Vassar College Faculty Handbook<\/a> under Policies Governing College Housing on the <a href=\"\/dean-of-the-faculty\/\">Dean of Faculty website<\/a> beginning on page 53.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also call the Dean of Faculty office to see if you are eligible at <a href=\"tel:+18454375300\">(845) 437-5300<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When and where is the list of available apartments for the upcoming year posted?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of <a href=\"\/faculty-housing\/apartments\/\">available apartments<\/a> will be posted on April 1st or the next business day of each year.\u00a0Postings will be displayed on the <a href=\"\/faculty-housing\/\">faculty housing website<\/a>. All apartments are unfurnished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What about apartments that become available during the \u201coff-cycle?\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apartments that become available off-cycle will be posted on the <a href=\"\/faculty-housing\/\">faculty housing website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I pay my rent?&nbsp; Is there a Security deposit due?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Rent can be paid by payroll deduction per the employees\u2019 payroll schedule, or by personal check. (The resident will be required to choose only one of the two payment methods.) There is no security deposit due.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I move out early?&nbsp; Do I have to pay rent until the end of the lease?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may move out mid-lease. 60 days written notice is required if you decide to terminate the lease early.\u00a0Insufficient notice will result in a penalty equal to one month\u2019s rent. The rent deductions will stop when you move out and the keys have been returned to the Faculty Housing Office.\u00a0The Faculty Housing Manager will notify payroll to discontinue the deductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When do I have to notify the Faculty Housing Office that I am interested in renewing my lease?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A lease renewal will automatically be sent to you by March 1<sup>st<\/sup> asking your intentions for the upcoming year. If there is going to be a rent increase for the new lease term, you will also be notified at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will my mailing address be?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mail can be sent to your off-campus residence.&nbsp;Please ask our office for your correct mailing address before you move in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Am I allowed to have pets?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, pets are allowed. All pet waste must be cleaned up by the owner, and pets must be leashed when out of the apartment.\u00a0See the <a href=\"\/faculty-housing\/documents-and-policy\/pet-policy\/\">Pet Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When I move in, do I have to pay for utilities?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be in 1 of 4 situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Both heat and electricity will be included in your rent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electricity needs to be turned on in your name as of the date you\u2019re moving in, and you will be billed directly from the utility company. Heat will be supplied by the College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electricity and natural gas for cooking need to be turned on in your name as of your move-in date, and you will be billed directly from the utilities company. Heat will be supplied by the College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Orchard Lane Apartments: Electricity needs to be turned on in your name as of the date you\u2019re moving in, and you will be billed directly from the utility company (hot water and heat are electric and not supplied by the College).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are responsible for electric and\/or cooking gas, you must provide your account number to the faculty housing office after your service is turned on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cable or Wifi are not included in the rent and are the responsibility of the tenant. Current providers in the area are Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) and Verizon Fios. Please check the company website for availability at your location.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unsure, please contact the Faculty Housing Office before move-in to find out which category you\u2019re in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If I need to get utilities turned on, where do I call?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cenhud.com\/\">Central Hudson Gas &amp; Electric<\/a> at <a href=\"tel:+18454522700\">(845) 452-2700<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work requests are completed by <a href=\"https:\/\/offices.vassar.edu\/facilities-operations\">Facilities Operations employees<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To submit a non-urgent work request, please use the online TMA request form (the link is located on the Facilities Operations website). For an emergency repair, during weekdays from 8:00\u20134:00, please contact Service Response at <a href=\"tel:+18454375999\">(845) 437-5999<\/a>. For evenings, weekends, and dates, the campus is closed.
