Wellness Peer Educators (WPEs) are dedicated to increasing awareness in areas of health and wellness; encouraging safer behaviors and choices; encouraging positive healthy lifestyles, and promoting healthy minds and bodies. Wellness Peer Educators are also dedicated to raising awareness and providing education on alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, mental health, and body image & nutrition in an effort to promote a healthier environment for the Vassar community.

All Wellness Peer Educators are certified peer educators and have additional training in the following areas:

  • Alcohol and other drugs education
  • Tobacco use
  • Sexual Health (safer sex, birth control, STIs)
  • Mental Health (self-care, stress management, mental illness)
  • Nutrition and exercise
  • Body Image
  • Eating disorders
  • Meditation
  • Positive Psychology
  • Sexual assault prevention and education

Wellness Peer Educators participate in the following types of health promotion activities:

Health promotion and education programs seek to provide students with information they need to make informed and responsible decisions concerning their health. WPEs are responsible for program development, planning, and execution. Popular programs include: Harvest Health Fair, DeStress Daze, and SEXPO.

Weekly office hours allow our Wellness Peer Educators to meet with students one-on-one to help answer any health-related questions and direct them to support on campus.

Outreach through collaborations with other offices and student organizations. Our mission is to make sure students are aware of the different resources available to them and feel comfortable accesing them.
