Services include, but are not limited to, routine physical exams and wellness screenings, diagnosis and treatment of medical concerns for acute illness or injury, diagnosis and treatment of sexual health concerns, immunizations, diagnostic testing, preventative health services and education. Students are requested to make appointments in advance for non-emergencies.  Walk-ins are welcome and will be triaged and treated based on acuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/offices.vassar.edu\/health-service\/services\/gender-affirming\/\">Trans and Non-Binary Health Services<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Trans and Non-Binary Health Services are available for individuals who identify as trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming who are seeking information, healthcare and\/or support.  Services include routine physical exams and cancer screenings, evaluation of sexual and reproductive health concerns, hormone therapy management and preventative health education.  Referrals to local healthcare specialists, including providers who specialize in hormone therapy initiation and gender reassignment surgery are provided when needed or requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"\/health-services\/services\/men\/\">Men\u2019s Health Services<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Men\u2019s Health Services are available for individuals assigned male at birth who are seeking information, healthcare, and\/or support. Services include routine physical exams and cancer screenings, evaluation of sexual health concerns, diagnoses and treatment of genital and other infections, and preventative health education. Referrals to local healthcare specialists are provided when needed or requested.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"\/health-services\/services\/women\/\">Gynecological Services<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gynecological Services are available for individuals assigned female at birth who are seeking information, healthcare, and\/or support.  Routine gynecological exams and cancer screenings, oral contraceptive counseling, IUD and contraceptive implant insertion and removal procedures, evaluation of menstrual and sexual health concerns, diagnosis and treatment of gynecological infections, pregnancy testing and emergency contraception are all services available on-campus.&nbsp;Referrals to local healthcare specialists are provided when needed or requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"diagnostic\">Diagnostic Testing and Lab Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some basic diagnostic tests and labs are performed on-site and the acquired specimens are then sent to outside labs such as Quest and Labcorp for specimen processing.  Processing lab facilities will bill the patient's insurance and all other applicable fees (ex. co-pays) will then be billed to the insurance policy holder. If the patient wishes to have blood work drawn at an outside facility, VCHS can provide a lab requisition form to facilitate this request.  X-rays, MRIs, and similar diagnostic tests will be ordered by VCHS providers and will then be scheduled by appointment at local imaging facilities.  The imaging facility will bill the patient's insurance and all other applicable fees will then be billed to the insurance policy holder.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/vcems\/\">Vassar College Emergency Medical Service<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vassar College Emergency Medical Services (VCEMS) is a student-run organization that is part of the Vassar Student Association (VSA). VCEMS is a National Collegiate EMS Foundation (NCEMSF) recognized EMS organization that serves all members of the Vassar College community and visitors to the campus during the academic year. VCEMS responds to on-campus emergencies and operates most nights from 5:00pm- 130am. VCEMS also provides extra coverage during large-scale campus events such as Commencement. VCEMS emergency response is requested through Campus Security by calling ext. 7333 <a href=\"tel:+18454377333\">(845) 437-7333<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vassarathletics.com\/sports\/2009\/2\/18\/GEN_0218095004.aspx\">Sports Medicine<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions is performed by athletic trainers in the Department of Athletics, working in collaboration and cooperation with the team physician, an orthopedic specialist, physical therapy, and the Health Service providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"\/counseling-service\/\">Counseling<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vassar College Counseling Service (VCCS) provides a variety of mental health services to Vassar students such as individual, couples, and group counseling; crisis intervention, walk-in clinic, educational programming, consultation, assessment, and referrals to off-campus mental health professionals.  VCCS works in collaboration with a psychiatrist and Health Service providers to provide comprehensive mental healthcare and medication management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"\/health-promotion-and-education\/\">Health Education<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Health Promotion and Education offers information and student support for a wide range of health issues including nutritional and eating concerns, smoking cessation, drug and alcohol use, and sexual health promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/offices.vassar.edu\/health-service\/services\/mindful-eating-support-team\/\">Mindful Eating Support Team<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vassar College Mindful Eating Support Team (MEST) coordinates a wellness-focused assessment and referral program designed to support students navigating food, weight, and body image concerns. Engaging with the Mindful Eating Support Team allows for care coordination between departments and off-campus specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This multidisciplinary team consists of representatives from the fields of medicine, mental health, exercise, and nutrition who work collaboratively toward enhancing your physical and emotional well-being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medical and Nursing Services Health Services are available for all individuals who are seeking information, healthcare, and\/or support.
