Check the local United Way in any state, city or county you are interested in working or United Way World Wide to identify volunteer opportunities

The National Area Health Education Center Organization - (NAO) is the national organization that supports and advances the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) network in improving the health of individuals and communities by transforming health care through education.

It is especially concerned with improving health care in underserved communities and recruiting and retaining underrepresented students in the health care professions but is open to all students interested in serving these communities.

Many local AHECs offer summer internships. Links to AHECs from throughout the country are listed in NAO's National Directory.

In New York State, there is an Emergency Medical Services Training website where EMT training programs can be located
