At the time of Commencement, area hotels may be filled to capacity. To supplement accommodations at local hotels and the Alumnae House, Vassar traditionally offers limited on-campus Commencement housing for families and guests of graduating seniors. In making your decision, please note that guests are housed in rooms that offer convenience but not necessarily extended amenities.

Applications

A notice will go out when the Commencement housing applications will be available. Students will fill out an application online via the Residential Life website.

All reservations will be charged to the student’s Vassar account. For assignment purposes, each application will be date and time-stamped, and any subsequent additions to the number of guests will be assigned a later date and time.

Room Assignment

Rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis until the available rooms are filled. Rooms will be located among other guests as well as students who are remaining for Commencement, and are standard with twin beds, basic linens, and shared gender-neutral bathrooms. Requests for shared accommodations will be assigned according to availability. If doubles are not available, guests will be assigned to singles close to one another.

Check-in and Check-out

Guests may stay no more than three nights beginning the Friday before graduation at 2 p.m. Guests may check-in between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., Friday–Saturday. Upon check-out, guests must return room keys and access cards. Please note that the check out time and date is subject to change.

Requests for Special Accommodations

If your request includes an individual with disabilities who requires special accommodations, please make this clear in your application.

Payment

Commencement housing costs $50 per person/per bed regardless of length of stay during the time period. Guests may bring sleeping bags for small children who may stay in the same room at no extra cost.

Cancellations

Cancellations will be accepted and refunded through a specified date. Please note that ALL approved refunds will be posted to the student’s Vassar account.
