Henry MacCracken, president of the College beginning in 1915, decided to rename the building after Milo P. Jewett, the first president of the college. Its most famous resident was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, Edna St. Vincent Millay \u201917, who allegedly threatened to throw herself from Jewett\u2019s battlements.
