Student Health Insurance
All students are required to have health insurance and are billed for the student health and accident insurance plan provided by Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk.
If you already have comparable coverage in the Poughkeepsie Area, you may request a waiver. Only students may complete the waiver.
Waiver deadline is August 12, 2026 for all new and returning students.
The insurance company will notify you by email if your waiver is approved or denied. If approved, the charge will be removed from your student account within 48 hours.
International students are required to purchase health insurance and are not eligible for the waiver.

Tuition Insurance
Vassar College is a participating institution of the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP), an optional insurance program that would augment Vassar’s refund policy in the event of an unexpected leave due to health reasons. All students who are billed tuition are automatically enrolled in the plan. The student must complete a waiver to remove this charge.
The TRP offers a refund of 80% of the insured term tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, less any refund or credit due to you from the College. This money can be used to repay any education loan or grant which must be returned if a student withdraws.
