Deeply Concerning Images
Dear all,
This afternoon we became aware that stickers with threatening messaging and imagery of a Hamas leader and a weapon had been posted on campus. Stickers have been found and removed from the College Center and from restrooms in the library and Rockefeller Hall. Campus Safety staff is looking for any others and will remove them if more are found. Please call the Campus Response Center (CRC) (845) 437-7333 if you find others.
I condemn the language and message expressed in the stickers. They are antisemitic, intimidating, and antithetical to the values of our learning community, which endorses respect for all persons and the peaceful exchange of ideas. They are posted in violation of Vassar’s posting policy and will be investigated for violation of our anti-discrimination policies as well as applicable laws against discrimination, harassment, and hostile environment.
Campus Safety staff are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine precisely when the stickers were posted and by whom. If you have information that could be helpful, please be in touch with Campus Safety. Community members are encouraged to report any instances of social identity harm using the Social Identity Harm Reporting Form. If students are in need of support resources or accommodations, please refer to the Dean of College Wellness Resources for assistance.
We will continue to ensure that campus is safe for all students and a place where all can thrive. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please be in touch.
Thanks,
