Community Works

Vassar College

Community Works is Vassar’s annual giving campaign for local non-profit organizations. Funded by donations from employees, trustees, and students, Community Works has provided over $1 million in grants to over 50 different groups since its inception in 2001.

Recipients are selected each year by an employee committee based upon nominations from members of the College community. And 100% of your contribution goes to support the local groups working to make our community a better place—the College pays for all of the campaign’s administrative costs.

Grant Criteria

We focus on local non-profit organizations that are mostly small to medium-sized. They must have a 501(c)(3) legal status and agree to adhere to Vassar College’s non-discrimination policy. Local programs of statewide or national organizations are hard to select for a grant, because we cannot guarantee that Community Works funds will be spent in the Hudson Valley.

2023 Campaign

The 22nd Community Works fundraising campaign began in early November and concluded by the end of December. We established a goal of raising $87,500 from 225 donors.
