Community Expectations and Conflict Resolution

Dean of Studies Office

The Dean of First-Year Students and other advisors work with students one-on-one to address any issues that concern them and refer students to available resources when students experience academic and personal difficulties.

Health Promotion and Education

The Office of Health Promotion and Education is committed to empowering students to make informed decisions in a wide range of health-related fields. We provide programs, outreach, and consultation for students in all areas of health and wellness.

The Jeh Vincent Johnson ALANA Cultural Center

The Jeh Vincent Johnson ALANA Cultural Center provides a myriad of resources and programs to support students of color and fosters cultural, social, academic, and creative expressions. The center offers opportunities for leadership development, intra-cultural and cross-cultural dialogues, lectures, big sister/big brother, and alum mentoring programs.

LGBTQ+ Center

The Vassar College LGBTQ+ Center enhances the campus life experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students and their allies by providing social, cultural, and academic programming; fostering strong leaders; highlighting Vassar’s unique history; and engaging the entire campus in discussions of social justice and inclusion.

Residential Life

The Residential Life staff coordinates activities that complement academic pursuits, advocates for and advises students, and strives to empower students to become leaders on campus and beyond.

Women’s Center

The Women’s Center strives to support, celebrate and empower all women and non-binary femmes through programming, workshops, and resources to address gender inequity on campus and to help students find community.

Off-Campus

Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center

The mission of the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center is to support the LGBTQ+ community by promoting well-being, advocating for equity and opportunity, and celebrating our diverse experiences. They provide resources, programming, and counseling.

Trevor Project

The Trevor Project features a variety of crisis and support services accessible via the phone, text, or online chat. The site also provides information for those seeking LGBT+-related resources and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ).

Planned Parenthood—Poughkeepsie

One of the nation’s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care, and the nation’s largest provider of sex education. Services offered include STI testing, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, pregnancy terminations, birth control management, and transgender hormone therapy.

Thriving Campus

A database of therapists and other providers in the area who work specifically with college students. 

Family Services Center for Victim and Safety Support (CVSS)

CVSS provides 24-hour non-residential, comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes. Services include a 24-hour hotline/chat line, advocacy/accompaniment, counseling, rape crisis services, and outreach efforts.
