Institute Site Activity 3/10/23

We are writing to provide an update on some work that will take place starting on or about 3/20/23. The work involves removing and cleaning out the existing underground steam tunnel that runs from the south side of College Ave in the wooded area behind 162 College Ave to the entrance to the project site. The asbestos contractor will be posting the notification today at the project entrance on the fence/gate. The expected duration to complete the work is approximately 10 days. 

  • Asbestos abatement will be performed within the underground steam tunnel that crosses College Avenue. All work will be performed in strict accordance with NYSDOL Industrial Code Rule 56 (ICR-56). Work is being performed by a NYSDOL licensed abatement contractor (BSB Construction) with oversight and monitoring provided by a NYSDOL licensed abatement monitoring firm (QuES&T) hired directly by Vassar College to ensure regulatory compliance and the safety of all construction personnel and neighbors.
