Supporting Possibilities & Opportunities to Thrive

FLI’s S.P.O.T. initiative is comprised of two unique programs. S.P.O.T. meetups aim to create space for students to gather and discuss their Vassar experience as first-generation and low-income students. We understand that sometimes students are ready and willing to offer support (spotting your peers), or other times their peers may be in need of support (in need of a spotter). Meetups are facilitated by peer-mentors and student leaders. Our goal is to create an environment where students will engage through informal “real talk” with their peers.

The S.P.O.T. Peer Mentorship Program is an effort to offer support, build community, and provide a sense of belonging throughout the students’ first year. Peer mentors are returning FLI students and will guide mentees as they begin to foster connections within the FLI community and campus resources that can benefit their Vassar experience.
