The Office of the Dean of Faculty sponsors a variety of programs and awards each year to support faculty research development. We organize Workshops each semester with editors about book proposal writing and academic publishing as well as more public-facing writing and publishing; we also organize library research workshops tailored to the interests of faculty members.

We offer awards for a select number of individual faculty members interested in Professional Editing services–both line editing and developmental editing, intended for faculty at all stages of their publishing careers. We provide support for a Manuscript Review Program for a small number of individual faculty who are near completion of a manuscript and would benefit from an intensive review of a manuscript before sending it to a press. In addition, we sponsor selected faculty three times each year (fall, spring, summer) to participate in the Faculty Success Program (FSP), a writing “bootcamp” of sorts that is organized and run by the NCFDD (National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity), of which Vassar is an institutional member.
