Faculty Director of Teaching Development
Kelli Duncan, Olmsted Hall: (845) 437-7313 | keduncan@vassar.edu
The Faculty Director of Teaching Development offers a wide range of support for faculty members at all stages of their academic careers. The faculty director works with the Director of Inclusive Pedagogy and others to offer Teaching Development Workshops for faculty on such topics as teaching a first-year writing seminar, using technology in the classroom, grading effectively, creating a teaching portfolio, and valuing diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
The faculty director of Teaching Development is also available for individual consultations with faculty colleagues on matters pertaining to pedagogy and teaching development. Assistance and advice provided during consultations are confidential and are not connected to College evaluation processes.
The faculty director also works with the Associate Dean of the Faculty to support programs for new Faculty, designed to help build a co-faculty and make the transition to Vassar’s teaching and learning culture.
Faculty Conversation Award
Small grants are available for this academic year to support conversations that bring together faculty from different departments and multidisciplinary programs. The conversations can be about teaching or research, can range in size (normally three or more), and must contain faculty from different parts of the curriculum.
