Training and Workshops

The Office for Institutional Equity Team and our community partners are available to provide in-person training to students, administrators, staff, or faculty. Workshops (online and in person) are interactive, providing participants with opportunities to engage in discussion and activities that challenge existing perspectives while understanding those that differ. This interactive format enhances learning and promotes a deeper understanding of the topics covered. 

Our training and education programs are not one-size-fits-all. We work to understand the unique needs of each unit, department, or group, and we are ready to tailor our offerings to meet those needs. One of our most requested training topics is an overview of Vassar’s nondiscrimination, Title IX, and related gender-based discrimination and sexual violence policies. Training programs equip our campus community with the knowledge and understanding necessary to navigate these policies effectively, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all. Topics covered include definitions of prohibited conduct, consent, supportive measures available to complainants and respondents, resolution options (administrative, informal, and formal), responsibilities of designated reporters, how to respond to disclosures, reporting options, and resources on- and off-campus.

Online Interactive Courses for Students and Employees

The online training modules are self-paced and ask students and employees to think critically about how to keep our campus safe. They cover such topics as identities and inclusion, sexual harassment prevention, sexual assault and violence prevention, hazing, alcohol education, and mental health. They encourage all members to look out for each other and about what each of us can do to contribute to our goal of a campus free of harassment, discrimination, sexual assault, hazing, and alcohol/substance abuse.
