Deduction Schedule Change: January 2027 (SEIU)

We are writing to share that the following deductions, which are currently deducted from 26 paychecks, will be changed to deduct from 24 paychecks as of January 1, 2027. The transition is to standardize the deduction frequency among pay groups on campus.

The following deductions will be changed to deduct from 24 paychecks:

  • Flex Spending Account Deductions
  • NYS Disability/Paid Family Leave Deductions
  • Group Accident Insurance Deductions
  • Group Specified Disease Insurance Deductions

For example, if you are enrolled in the Group Accident Insurance plan and have $13.85 deducted from 26 biweekly paychecks (totaling $360 per year), then your new deduction amount will be $15 per biweekly paycheck ($360 divided by 24 pay periods).

Please note that any payment agreements with Vassar for rent, Wimpfheimer Nursery School tuition, and/or Infant Toddler Center tuition have already been adjusted to take deductions over 24 pay periods (or over the number of biweekly pay periods within your specified agreement dates).

There are no changes to the frequency of union dues deductions. Union dues and voluntary COPE deductions will continue to be deducted from the first paycheck in each month.

Should you have any questions regarding the deduction frequency change, please contact humanresources@vassar.edu.
