Official transcripts can now be delivered in two ways! Starting March 2025, all Vassar students and alumni can request electronic transcripts. This option is fast, simple, and secure, with the transcript emailed directly to the recipient you specify. Additionally, we will continue to offer paper transcripts. Please see the instructions below:

Order Official Electronic Transcript

Vassar has partnered with Parchment Exchange to deliver electronic transcripts for all current and former students. There is a $3.68 (+ taxes) electronic processing fee per transcript. Taxes are based on individual billing addresses.

  • The site guides you through placing an order and making payment.
  • Orders are 100% online; no additional forms are needed.
  • You can place multiple transcript orders in a single transaction.
  • The website is available 24/7. Requests are processed by Vassar the following business day.
  • Order using any device and most modern browsers (Note: Internet Explorer is not supported).
  • You can track your order status and history online.
  • The ability to attach supplemental forms is included.

Instructions for Requesting an Official E-transcript:

For New Users:

  1. Go to the Parchment sign-up page.
  2. Enter “Vassar College” in the Find an Institution box and select “Search.”
  3. Choose Vassar College from the list.
  4. Enter your email address and select “Continue.”
  5. Provide the following details:
    • First Name, Middle Name (if applicable), Last Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Phone Number
    • Address
    • Enrollment information and/or dates of attendance
    • Create a password.

For Returning Users:

  1. Select “Login.”
  2. Enter your email and password. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the “Forgot Password” link.
  3. Select “Orders.”
  4. If Vassar is not listed, select the “+” sign above “Start by Adding a School.”
  5. Enter “Vassar College” in the search box and select “Add.”
  6. Provide enrollment information and/or dates of attendance.
  7. Verify your name and any other names under which you attended.

Final Steps:

  • Vassar will review and process your request during normal business hours.
  • We will upload your transcript to Parchment.
  • Parchment will send your transcript to the specified destinations.
  • All requests are official, secure, and will include the transcript legend and key to transcript notations.

Order Official Paper Transcript

No additional fee required

  • Complete the Transcript Request Form (222KB).
  • We accept paper requests via mail, email, or fax. If submitting via email, your form must include your signature.
  • Important Note: We will no longer be able to scan and email copies of the paper transcript. If you need an electronic copy, please follow the instructions above on ordering an official electronic copy. 
  • Paper copies are printed on security paper with the Vassar seal and the Registrar’s signature. The back contains the transcript legend and key.
  • Most requests are fulfilled within 2–3 business days, though peak times may cause delays.

Course Unit Information

Vassar College uses the Course Unit as the unit of measurement for academic course credit. Each candidate for the Bachelor of Arts degree is required to complete a minimum of 32 units of work, equivalent to 120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours of credit. Most courses at Vassar are worth one full unit, although there are a few 1/2 unit courses. A full-time student takes a minimum of 3 1/2 units per term. Therefore, in converting units to credits, you should use the following scale:

1 Vassar Course Unit = 3.75 Semester Hours
1 Vassar Course Unit = 5.60 Quarter Hours

Prior to the Fall of 2019

Each candidate for the Bachelor of Arts degree was required to complete a minimum of 34 units of work, equivalent to 120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours of credit. Most courses at Vassar are worth one full unit, although there are a few 1/2 unit courses. A full-time student takes a minimum of 3 1/2 units per term. Therefore, in converting units to credits, you should use the following scale:

1 Vassar Course Unit = 3.53 Semester Hours
1 Vassar Course Unit = 5.30 Quarter Hours
