Full time or part time: Families may choose a three, four, or five-day weekly schedule. We do not offer one or two-day-per-week programming.
Early childhood educators: Each group is taught by an experienced early childhood education team. We believe that teaching young children requires knowledge of child development, family systems, play theories, and care pedagogies. Our educators are known for their joy in working with children and families.
Full day care: We practice respectful responsive care and view the daily rituals such as at meal times, toilet learning, dressing, and resting, as educational encounters. The program is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. We follow mandated health and safety regulations, including having our educators’ credentials updated regularly in all areas of professional development, child health/safety, supervision, nutrition, CPR, and First Aid.
Nature and environmental education: We play outside every day in all seasons and create a learning experience that is full of wonder, movement, fresh air, and play. We ask parents to provide seasonal clothing such as rainsuits, boots, and snowsuits for daily adventures as children and educators explore the landscape and changing seasons. A central feature of our program includes deepening the child’s love of nature and sense of place within the landscape of fields, trees, trails, and gardens on our campus.
Active learning and no screens: We are a screen-free environment. We promote experiential learning in real work and play such as cooking, gardening, art, story, and song. Young children construct meaning through hands-on participation and social engagement.
