University of Chicago, Columbia University/Barnard College, The Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University established the Berlin Consortium For German Studies (BCGS) in 1995 with the Freie Universitat Berlin. Cornell University and Vassar College joined the Consortium as associate members in 1999.
The Berlin Consortium for German Studies is based in the city of Berlin and managed by Columbia University.
