All-Gender Housing

Upper-class students who wish to be suitemates/housemates/roommates will be allowed to do so without regard to their gender.

By default, Vassar places first-year students into rooms with one or more roommates of the same listed sex (that we have listed in our system). We understand that this does not always meet the needs of our students. When this is the case, students simply indicate “yes” on the question about  “Gender Fluid Housing” on the first-year housing application. A member of our office will touch base directly with the student to understand the context and needs better. Please note that a student can also use the Roommate Group option to select a roommate of any sex/gender identity.

It should also be noted that every bathroom in all the residential houses, unless otherwise designated, is all-gender.
